Road Tripping During COVID-19
I couldn’t fight the travel itch any longer, but getting on a plane during a global pandemic didn’t sit well with my spirit. So I opted for the next best thing - a road trip. Myself and 3 friends hit the road driving 5 hours north of NYC to Martha’s Vineyard. While I was hesitant at first, it turned out to be a great experience. Here are the precautions we took. Stay safe my friends!
Get Tested - Since the 4 of us were not quarantining together we all got tested before spending hours in a car and days sharing a house together.
Sanitization Is Key - from the rental car to the Airbnb spray, wipe, whatever it takes to disinfect everything from top to bottom. The process was time consuming, but it also put us at peace. You never know who may have touched that knob last.
Opt For The Rental Home - if for no other reason than less people coming in and out of your space. Yes, you’ll need to clean up after yourself and make your bed daily, but you’re also minimizing risk. You wouldn’t be reading this if you did care!
Bring Your Own Linens - We’ve all seen the news special when they go into a hotel room with a black light only to find out the sheets aren’t clean. Yea, no! Don’t risk sleeping on partially clean bedding. Additionally, strip the bed down and disinfect the mattress or any covering.
COVID Is Not Vacationing - While we escaped the city, we did not escape coronavirus. It is alive and active, never forget. Mask up. Limit your interaction with others when possible. Continue to follow precautions. Thankfully, we rented a space that allowed us to cook at home and take advantage of the grassy backyard while remaining socially distant from strangers.
